Aaron Johnson

Aaron Johnson (April 30, 1983) is a professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Johnson was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 3rd round (85th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Columbus chose not to issue him a qualifying offer on June 27, 2007, making him a free agent. On July 12, 2007, Johnson was signed by the New York Islanders. A season later, Johnson signed with the Chicago Blackhawks on July 11, 2008. He was traded to the Calgary Flames for Kyle Greentree early in the 2009–10 season. On March 3, 2010, Johnson (along with a 3rd round draft pick in 2011) was traded to the rival Edmonton Oilers, in exchange for Steve Staios. Johnson signed a one-year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets on July 3, 2011.
