The Pastor's Wife (2012)
The Pastor's Wife is a 2011 biography television film, starring Rose McGowan as Mary Winkler and based on the true crime book of the same title by author Diane Fanning. It premiered on Saturday, November 5, at 8 pm ET/PT on the Lifetime Network. Mary Winkler is a housewife and mother of three daughters who is married to Matthew Winkler, a popular pastor who is well liked by the community for his friendliness and his preaching of strong Christian family values and against the evils modern day life like pornography. To most of the towns folk, the Winklers are seen as the perfect family with Matthew as the perfect husband and wonderful father and Mary the dutiful wife and mother. However, on one early morning at the Winkler's home, a shotgun blast is heard by the Winkler children and later Mary brings the children away in their car for a sudden trip, with the children wondering what happen to their father. When worried neighbors investigate the Winkler's home that night, they find Matthew dead in his bedroom, killed by a shotgun wound. Fearing the Winkler family has been kidnapped, the local and state authorities and FBI issues an Amber alert for the Winklers.
